Editorial Charter
Last updated: July 17, 2026
This charter defines what is allowed, tolerated, or assessed case by case on QuranInterpretation. It complements our Terms of Use and applies to every interpretation, comment, or reaction posted on the site.
1. Prohibited content
The following is strictly prohibited, leading to immediate removal and a warning (repeat offenses result in a ban):
- Hate speech, incitement to violence, or any sectarian or extremist content.
- Using the Quranic text to promote a violent ideology.
- Harassment of another user.
2. Tolerated content
Even in case of theological disagreement, the following contributions remain welcome:
- Sincere questioning, including from non-Muslims or atheists, expressed respectfully.
- Disagreements between readings or schools of thought on historical points, as long as respect for the Companions and the Prophet's family is maintained.
- Non-academic interpretations, as long as they do not fall into the prohibited category above.
3. Grey area
Questioning fundamental pillars, raised respectfully by a non-believer, is assessed case by case by the moderation team. Our stance favors tolerance and community response over removal, to stay true to our promise of openness to everyone.
4. How moderation works
Any post can be reported via the report button. Beyond a report threshold, it is automatically hidden (status "pending review") until a moderator examines it -- never removed by default. No interpretation is subject to prior approval before publishing: moderation only happens after the fact.
